Organic Food is Now Mobile

SALT LAKE CITY — 1 mars 2015 —

Thanks to Wavelink’s Avalanche product, Alnatura is able to smoothly manage its mobile barcode terminals (Motorola MC3100) centrally across all its stores. The company can now easily deploy new barcode terminals and various mobile applications from Wavelink’s partner LaserIDENT, as well as perform software and configuration updates. Wavelink Avalanche, the mobile management software solution, has been operating successfully in Alnatura’s environment since July 2014.

Alnatura has 95 branches in 41 German cities. Its produce can also be found in the 3,600 Europe-wide stores of Alnatura’s partners such as dm, tegut or Globus. Overall, the organic food retailer sells 1,100 organic food products under its own brand.

Due to the vast expansion in Germany and the need to manage its new branches, the company changed from its existing Microsoft Business Solution ERP system to the ERP solution offered by SAP. Based on this platform change, a new solution for mobile device management (MDM) was required. Alnatura’s channel partner, LaserIDENT GmbH, recommended Wavelink Avalanche to Alnatura. Following a thorough review of the product, Alnatura chose this solution because it worked independently from hardware, devices and manufacturers, therefore making it a sound investment and a long term solution. Alnatura felt confident working with LaserIDENT, given the good references on work performed for well-known customer brands —coupled with their years of experience working with Wavelink.

After the project started, the implementation and the integration of Avalanche to the SAP ERP system by the LaserIDENT project team went so smoothly that the mobile system went live in a much quicker timeframe than anticipated.

"Alnatura has improved productivity in its stores and created potential for further expansion," says Michael Simrock, ITC team manager for the Alnatura branches. "With our choice of Wavelink Avalanche, we remain independent from service providers and protect our investment in IT."

Configuration, patch management and the mobile service desk are managed by a central console placed in the company's headquarters in Bickenbach. The devices no longer need to be configured in the corporate office before they are sent to the stores. Now, LaserIDENT sends the mobile devices directly to the stores. With the implemented Avalance MDM solution, the mobile barcode terminals MC3100 are automatically supplied with the relevant configurations, images and mobile applications. By eliminating excess user interaction, Alnatura has saved not only money and time but also gained the potential to further expand its branch network.
